The Maritime English Journal studies the structure, development and usage of English inside of this very specialized profession, and in particular, its relationship to and effect on and within standard Englishes. The Journal is the sister journal to the long established Asian EFL Journal

The Chief Editor of the Maritime English Journal is Dr. Paul Robertson. Senior advisors to the journal are Professor Roger Nunn, Petroleum Institute UAE, Dr. John Adamson, Nigata Prefecture University and Professor Z.N.Patil of the English and Foreign Languages University Hyderabad, India. Andrew Aznar of Southwestern University, a leading maritime studies university in the Philippines, is international maritime advisor.
